Thanks for the feedback, you two. I definitely didn't want to come across as if I have any trouble communicating with my staffing firms. I was just airing a common complaint I hear from others! If you have any other advice for workers looking to staffing agencies for help, please let me know and I'll pass it along.

as someone who has been in the staffing world for well, like forever. try a staffing firm that does not bill themselves as creative. or a smaller, lesser known agency.. they tend to have a better associate feel. (read: will call you back and are happy to hear from you.) if you have any questions or need suggestions, email me directly. i'll help if i can.

Tony - thanks for the great reminders for candidates.

Recruiters spend most of their time on the phone looking for jobs for our candidates, so it's important to find a way to keep in touch with us but still allow us to proactively look for positions. Sending a quick email to check in is a great way to keep in touch - and if there is something important that you need to discuss with your recruiter, then by all means, let them know you need to talk. You should also know that when we are working on closing deals with people, we are available day and night to work towards successful offers.

We do our best to keep in touch with status reports to our candidates that we are working with because we understand the frustration of the waiting game. And while we don't want people to complain - we always want to know what we can do better. If a job seeker has valid feedback, we always want to hear!
